We walked through an area where there had been a fire quite recently. Some of the trees were blackened, but still alive like this one.
We got all the way to the top...
On the way we saw lots of lizards, crickets and squirrels, including little tiny ones called chickarees...
Papa is rocking his new straw hat he found in the fancy dress section of a big shop called Target.
Daddy is checking the map.
We were told to look out for mountain lions and rattle snakes, but we didn't see any...
These are some trees which got all burned up.
Look how big the pine cones are! They're as big as Daddy's head!
Now it's time to go to bed in our friend Gwyn's tiny tent again...
But we managed to fit in a grove of giant trees just before it got dark - they're called Sequoia trees and they are the biggest and oldest trees in the world...
This one is 1700 years old and it would take 20 people to hold hands around the trunk
And here's dinner!
