The biggest tree in the world

Another quiet night under the stars in the tent, and then it's time for breakfast.

Then we packed the tent away, took our food out of the bear-proof locker and headed off. Here's what other people here are sleeping in:

First stop, the biggest tree in the world! It is called General Sherman and it is 2,200 years old.

Spot the incredible appearing woman!

Then we walked further and further into the Giant Forest to see more and more huge trees...

Who lives in here?

And who lives in here?

This is looking through the window of an old log cabin we found...

You can see where a bear has been breaking up the dead tree trunk with its claws to find beetles and their larvae to eat.

Then we climbed up a really tall granite rock called the Moro Rock, and made a video of the view from the top...

We stopped in the valley on our way to Los Angeles at a small town called Three Rivers, just like the area of Hertfordshire where we live.

It was a bit hotter than Rickmansworth though...

And it looks a bit different too...

Then we drove through miles and miles of farmland and then a huge oil field.

You can see the big pumps they use to get the oil out of the ground...

Then we joined the huge Interstate motorway for the final drive towards Los Angeles...

  1. Somewhere in northern California there is a tree that is so big, that they carved a tunnel and you can drive your car right through the tree!

  2. Miriam says she wants to see a film with daddy and papa in it. Esther says there was a big tree and we couldn't see daddy and papa in it. We all say wow, what amazing trees. Your holiday looks incredible.
Swimming and ballet went well, thanks for the briefing!
